Fender Bassman Pedal

Anybody have a review of the 59 Fender Bassman pedal? I'm thinking about getting one, could use some input from those that own one or that have used one. Thanks.

I never got a chance to try that one, but I did have the 65 Deluxe Reverb pedal that they did, in the same line. They're definitely made for guitar, but by cranking the bass up to about 3:00 or so and keeping the gain down on the low side, it was certainly acceptable for bass use. It probably cuts a little bit of the lowest sub-bass, but you didn't get any of those frequencies on the amps that these things are modeling anyways. It's not like the bass amps of the 50s and 60s had booming lows in the first place.

If you're talking about the boss fbm-1, it can be used on bass. the boss website has a some sound samples of the boss fmb-1 on bass. here's the link.

Well, the link works. BOSS - Virtual Pedal Board 2

Weird. I tried all the options: no way no how can you get a bass guitar simulation running through the FMB-1. The only option on the virtual board is "Blues" > Lead or Rhythm. No Bass.

I just tried it again and there it was... Bass through the FMB-1. Bass + Alternate setup...

That pedal is targeted at guitarists anyway, but when has that ever stopped bassists from using a "guitar" stompbox?

Try the FMB-1 in a store with your own bass, see if it works for you.

You need to select bass from the choose a style section on the virtual pedalboard and there's a section called alternate set-up. there you can select a pedal demonstrated on bass. it has the boss oc-2, the boss obd-3, and the boss fbm-1. select bass from the virtual pedal board and you'll be able to select how the boss fbm-1 sound on bass.

Tried it and returned it. To tinny and noisy for me but go to GC and borrow one for 30 days, you may think differently.

If you want a pedal for that Bassman or Showman sound, I would look at the Tech 21 Blonde pedal. Just like the VT but for Fender amp simulation.

Thanks Crystalman. I could've sworn I'd tried the alternate setup the first time around. Anyways, it worked the second time for me.

I have one, it works great for bass. you'd just have to try it to see if it works for you but I think it's legit. not light on bottom end either.
