Question Fiddled w/internal trimpots, now I have a *click*

Sign in to disble this ad
Just grabbed an old DOD FX-90, and of course HAD to mess w/the internal trimpots. I was able to get it to self-oscillate nicely at the end of the repeat knob's travel, but then I futzed w/a different pot & now I get an irritating little *click* when I hit the footswitch(on & off). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Advice: Next time you are about to adjust an internal trim pot, use a marker, grease pencil, or nail polish to mark the original position it is set at.

Unfortunately, you're probably going to have to mess with that trimpot until the problem goes away. There really isn't any tech support for DOD pedals anymore, plus I'm pretty sure that's what they would do if there still were.

+1 to marking the original positions before you change anything. Usually, the trimpots are there to fine tune things before being sent out due to slight discrepancies in building materials. (It's a by-product of mass-production and is essentially un-avoidable with any mass-produced effect pedal)

I did make a *mental* note of where the pots were prior to fiddling- admittedly that's not real reliable or accurate. I was just hoping someone here had done something similarly silly.
