Finishing new pedal board - just a few questions remain

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi everyone!

I just bought myself a Gator (non-powered) pedal board and will soon assemble it. I have a home-made board that works pretty well (I used an old kitchen drawer as a protective swing-cover) but it's not as light and portable as I would like - there's a big power bar on it along with 6 wall-warts. So, I got the Gator board + bag with the idea I could daisy chain the pedals. Unfortunately, the highest rated adapter I have is a Boss PSA-120S. It outputs 9V 500mA. I have 4 Digitech X-series pedals, a SansAmp BDDI and a Planetwaves pedal tuner. I realize this would probably never happen, but if each pedal was drawing fully I would need 1600mA. It looks like the Godlyke Power-All puts out 1700mA, which is perfect!

However, I've noticed on all of my Digitech wall-warts, the output says 9.6V 300mA.

So, my questions (finally ) -

Is this extra 0.6V important in any way? Will the Godlyke (or OneSpot) be able to power my 4 Digitech X-series pedals (plus the BDDI and pedal tuner) correctly? What's up with the extra 0.6V anyway? Is it something to do with the fact the Digitech pedals are digital?

After searching and reading several threads regarding daisy chains, I have found answers to some of my other questions but not these ones. If the answers are out there and I have just missed them, I apologize for being redundant.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

The output of the walwarts isn't what the pedals draw. You need the owners manuals/websites to figure out how much each pedal really needs.

Edit: In general, the 9.6 vs 9.0 isn't a problem. Try it - measure a brand new battery. Probably around 10V (no load).

Thanks for the response! I checked the product description on the Godlyke power-all and it says it will replace the DOD PS-200R, which is what my Digitechs run off of. So, apparently that extra 0.6V is not important Maybe it's a little extra headroom for other Harman products.

Now, I just need to find some way to buy one of these things in Canada!

P.S. is there much difference between the PA-9 and the PA-9B? Just less cords with the "B" version?
