First Fuzz: Swollen Pickle or Supper Collider

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey All,

looking at my first fuzz and I seem to be interested in either the swollen pickle mk11 or the earthbound super collider. Bassfuzz.com has a super collider demo but there no swollen pickle demos for bass that I have found. Are both versitile?? Can you you get mild fuzz from either of these?

thanks

haha I wouldn't recommend either one for "mild fuzz". The Pickle can probably DO it, but I don't think that's it's strength.

Are there ANY "mild fuzz" demos on bassfuzz.com? It might be the only place in the universe where the Devi Ever YOTR is considered "subtle"

The Supercollider would be my suggestion. It's easy to find a horrid sound from the Pickle so as a first Fuzz, the supercollider is much easier to use. The supercollider isn't as crazy as the Pickle so there's another point.

The supercollider is easier to use and can do mild better than the Swollen pickle.

What sound are you looking for. If you want "mild" you may want to pass on both of these.

A good mild would be a current era Tonebender imo.

Supper collider?

Prime Rib + Cajun Roast Pork with oyster dressing.

That would be one amazing collision of suppers.

I think most folks around here know what my suggestion for a mild fuzz is but just in case somebody doesn't, it's spelled BASS BIG MUFF

I guess because it will be probably my only fuzz I am thinking of versatitly. I doubt that I will use mild fuzz much, but the more sounds I can get of one box is better.

+1

(which is on bassfuzz.com btw RC)

Why anyone would spend the cash on a Swollen Pickle MKI as their first fuzz I have no idea. (edit: ahh, that is supposed to be MKII... my bad). That said, I don't think either does mild very well, though the supercollider is probably a bit better. The pickle is like a giant thick super-compressed muff.

I currently use a Sonic VI Champion Fuzz for 'mild' fuzz. It's based on the B&M Fuzz, which I believe is a Colorsound Jumbo Tonebender.

If your looking at muff variants, I'd highly recommend the Blackout Effectors Musket.

So you would agree on my Tonebender point? It's a very warm, vintage sounding fuzz...Pretty mild if you ask me.
