Fishman Pro Platinum Bass EQ - good for solidbody bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've read all kinds of reviews saying the Fishman Pro Platinum Bass EQ

works really well for upright bass. How does it work for a solid body bass? I've been debating replacing the electronics in my G&L L2500 with an Audere preamp with high/low mid eq controls because the pickups are too middy for what I play at church. I need to scoop things a bit. Would the FPPBEQ work for me as well? Does it warm things up at all?

Thanks!

Yes, it could work well for solidbody, and yes you could use it to scoop a few mids. Whether it would "warm" anything... I haven't read anything to suggest that. You might also look into the old Yamaha NE-1, it's famous for good-sounding mid scoop.

I use a Radial BASSBONE (prototype, I can plug three basses in this version) to even out my gain when I use multiple basses during a show. That way the effects react the same to everything. I have often thought of routing this between my upright and BassBONE, use the feedback eliminating function on it. Would that cause any problems with the Bassbone (a pre before a pre)? Is it an overkill concept?

I don't know... But I have a similar question. So maybe this can bring this old and unanswered question to life:
I'm also thinking of using my Sansamp BDDI and Fishman Platinum together with my electric bass. I like the drive Sansamp gives and the HP filter of the Fishman. Any probable problems? Which one run first in the chain will be more effective? Any cents?
Thank you...

I plan to get one soon, mainly for my upright, but also to use for bass guitar. The compressor is supposed to be vell-voiced for bass signals.
