And I think the DOD FX-72 beats both of them. Not in production anymore, but they pop up for sale all the time, almost always for less than 50 bucks. This has beat out so many other flangers, I can barely remember them all.

BOSS BF-3. I've also heard good things about the BF-2 and the BF-2B.

See, it's like anything,..personal preference. unless you demo them beforehand, it's just a gamble whether you'd like one over another. Me, Maxon FL-9.

I do not mean to hi-jack the thread... But I am in the market for a flange with similar specifications in mind. I'm looking for something good that won't break the bank, that also has a fairly compact housing. Two pedals I had in mind are the MXR Micro Flange (I'm pretty big into MXR, I own three of their pedals and am quite satisfied with them) and the EHX Neo Mistress. I cannot try them out at the moment as the music stores here in my city are quite small, so I was curious, what are your overall thougts/experiences with the pedal? Which one should I get? I will try them both out when I finally get the chance. Thank you.

EDIT: Has anybody used the Modtone Space Flanger? I stumbled upon their website and I like it's sound and aesthetics, but I am curious about how it would sound on a bass. Any input is much appreciated.

I've never tried the MXR Micro Flange, but selling my 117R is one of my biggest regrets.

BF3 here, completely functional, maybe not as sexy as it could be, but it's a tank.

I have gone out and tried both the Boss and the Ibanez (not a Maxon, but it's almost the same thing and far less expensive) but I haven't been able to find a Micro Flange or a Neo Mistress and I haven't heard anything about the Space Flange. And I'm having enough trouble finding Flangers that are still being made I don't think tracking down a dead pedal is the right way for me to go.

Has anybody had their hands on the MXR or EHX pedals that can provide their two cents

Ibanez Flanger

I would avoid it. I owned one, hardly ever used it, and it died on me. I never gigged with it or anything. I like Boss pedals because, as mentioned already, they are tanks. You can beat your drummer over the head with it and it will still work tomorrow.

If you get a chance, its not a "all-around" flanger, but the Chicago-Iron Pedal Flanger is a cool choice for bass. It's one of those signature sound type of pedals.

I'm going to say the Boss BF-3. It's the best bang for the buck IMHO.

My favorite bass Flanger is an old D.O.D. FX72. I like a lot of the Electro Harmonix pedals too. They are Made in USA which is always a plus.
