Speaking of the Cure and Simon Gallup use of a flanger:
Holy Hour Now THAT is the BF-2 tone.

Definitely. Great chunky tone Lynott got using his P bass, a pick and flanger.

Not as prominent pretty much describes how Myung gets mixed on every DT track.

Juan Alderete uses flanger all over Mars Volta's Bedlam in Goliath
Interesting on Scar Tissue. I never heard that before but you're right it's definitely there. I wonder if it was added in post?

Juan uses a LOT of effects all over Bedlam in Goliath.

Believe it or not, them bones by alice in chains has some bass flanger in the song. it's not really that notice about in the song, but on the isolated bass track, you can hear a flanger effect on bass. perhaps mike starr uses a flanger effect in them bones to make the song sound more atmospheric. here's the isolated bass track to them bones.

The first effect pedal I ever bought was a
Boss BF-2. It's still on my board 20 years
later.

There is no doubt I got the idea of using it
on bass from listening to The Cure. The B
side of Primary called Descent is awesome
flanger goodness.

Fair point. Although I always associated him more with his use of the phase 90, a la 'Ain't talkin bout love'

Its funny...when I used to play in a band that covered Love Song, I copped the best sound for it through using a chorus effect.

Meanwhile, we also used to cover "Come As You Are" by Nirvana, and while most people describe that as a chorus sound, I always got the best results from using a flanger...so that's my vote for a flanged tune!
