I've been asking about a few types of
Pedal as I'm not sure what I really want. Thanks for replies to everyone.
Been looking at chorus and flange. Not sure which I want. I tried the a/da flanger and thought it was great but expensive. The shop didn't have the mxr evh so no idea if it was a better/worse pedal and the mxr micro flanger which didn't seem to
Do
That much.

I loved the a/da though. Are there any Flanders that come
Close to this but cheaper and then are there any chorus pedals worthwhile? Im not sure that I want a
Chorus though. Not
Sure what it does
For
The sound
In a way that I
Would
Like.

If i were buying a Flanger pedal I'd look at the TC Electronics Vortex, I used one in the studio and it was quite nice and the 'tape' setting is uber retro.

I'm also looking at chorus and flange and am currently considering the EHX Stereo Electric Mistress after checking out the soundclips in Wiki section.

I'm a cheap date- rarely pay over $100 even for used stuff; I have an old DOD FX-75(B, I think... perhaps -C. It's loaned out)that does the intro to *Barracuda* nicely. Souds good on bass, too IIRC. It has internally-adjustable trimpots so you can make it sound awful, if that's your thing.

the ibanez airplane flanger is very close to the a/da and a lot cheaper (about $140).

The Moog ClusterFlux sounds pretty good, based on demo videos.

It probably does but it kind of goes the other way in price range to
The way I want . Has anyone else checked out the Paul Gilbert ibanez out and compared it side by side with the a/da? It's half the price and YouTube sounds seem to come close but unless you are in the room with both then it's hard to tell

Sorry... I'm looking at the TC vortex for flanger sounds and I have an MXR micro chorus. I'm going to trade the micro(I don't like only having one knob) in for the black label chorus or the other MXR chorus in the small box(they are the same except the paint job). Do you want more spacey crazy sounds or more subtle less crazy sounds? Chorus and flangers are similar in many ways but I always think of flangers as the crazy cracked out cousin of chorus pedals.

I have the BYOC flanger and feel that it gives me all of the chorus and flange effects I need. You can go from subtle to very deep.

My sentiments as well. You can get into trouble with a flanger, which makes them much more fun to me. I've always been happy with my old Maxon FL-01, bought used a few years ago for about $80 I think.

i've got a MXR Micro Flanger which is good for subtle, mellow, clean settings. but it jumps when you hit it with gain, no jet engines. i've also got a TC Vortex & while it does some pretty decent emulations, i hear something stair step in the sweep & it just doesn't have that full sweep modulation with a gritty harmonic feel that i loved in the old MXR M126 blue rackmount flanger/doubler. for me it set the bar for flangers. Flangers arent really a priority for the moment but if i go looking A/DA Flanger Reissue & Flanger Hoax will be at the top of the list.

I tried the micro flanger by mxr and as much as I liked the indestructible casing I wasn't a fan of parting with my money for such a subtle sound. To me it was more like my phaser on super mild mode. Not saying you don't get what you want out of it but for me it's a bit like buying a single for 50 or ten for 100. Admittedly the true bypass was sweet
And
I could hear the sound of my
Finger as it brushed the string even while turned on. The a/da seems to not sound true bypass sadly. I have looked at the Paul Gilbert one but not tried it. Does anyone know how durable it is?

How does the hoax compare to a/da and Paul Gilbert airplane?
