You need a "both" option. I like them both equally, and each has its own timber and use.

I put Flanger down only because I've never used a phaser that held up live, but if I could find one it could be "both".

I guess it depends on what you get to try. I have always, like 22 years always, been a Flanger guy, but I just got a Phaser that for me is the most incredible sounding modulation pedal I have ever heard!!!
My search is over and I could not be happier!!!!!!!

Between the two, phaser. But I prefer other modulations over both.

Both cool, but I picked phaser. I think of Chris Squire and Geddy when I think of phaser, though they used both too. I'm an idiot for selling my boss phaser that I bought new in the late 70s.

A DOD flanger was my first pedal, and I still use it regularly.
It adds a big accent/dimension when I want it, really fills in sonic space.

I like phasers on bass, but flangers on guitar.

Major flanger whore here. As for phasers, I've recently decided that I just like Univibes more than standard phasers.

Curious... what did you decide on?

I had a flanger in the 70's that I remember loving, I may have to try it again to see how it works today.

Started out as a flanger guy. Moved to phaser (EHX Nano Small Stone), which I believe suits more my playing (a tad funky). Still get the flanger out once in a while.

My preferred modulation is chorus. However, since that isn't one of the choices, I'll say phaser. I have both phaser and flanger effects, and my sound wouldn't be quite right without either of them, but I get more of a charge finding the right phaser than I do with finding the right flanger. So, on that basis alone, I pick phaser. In terms of how they affect my sound and tone, both are equally important.

My EHX Nano Small Stone is a fixed presence on my board; I usually use it on songs like "Stranglehold", and with my envelope filter for funky, spacy tones.

I would love to add a flanger to my board, but haven't yet found one I am happy with. GNI's phaser-flanger has caught my eye, but its price tag is prohibitive at the moment.

I feel naked without a phaser on my board.

I haven't found a flanger that I could get into.

However, my Akai Intelliphase, HBE Psilocybe and Maxon PT-9 Pro+ are all in current rotation on my board.

Phaser=Awesome.
