Hey, i really hope this is the right forum, if not i apologize.
Simply put, i want to know how to get this tone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xo-zYsJ_y0M
Is he using some sort of effect or is it done with eq settings and technique?
Any input is appreciated and thanks in advance. |

I hear the sound of a Jazz bass with GHS flats being played with a heavy touch near the bridge into a GK rig.
And since Rick Rubin (not to mention Flea) take a minimalist approach to recording I'm guessing that's a direct out from his rig to the board with no mic'd cabs or double tracking. |

Then again, back in the day he very well could have played an SVT

Yes, he's using flats, but it's just a clean sound (from the GK) and a hard attack and nothing more. |

The BCS game and working with Mars Volta are two notable exceptions. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
