Fodera 2000 Preamp Pedal

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi Everyone,

I just won one of these on ebay. I can't find a lot of info on them, but I'm pretty stoked. I wanted to run a Pope preamp in my 78 Carl Thompson, but I didn't want to mod the control plate and I also wanted to keep it passive. This seemed like a good solution and I got it a lot cheaper than a new onboard Pope preamp. Anyone have any thoughts on these?

Mike

I am jealous. I've heard they sound really good. I like the idea of keeping the bass passive and still being able to use the the Pope pre.

I own a Fodera 2000 pre. Its a really nice, clean pre. No status LED (LED Just shows battery life) kinda sucks, but other than that, its all good. Enjoy it

The new one is the Model 2006. I have a few here. It's redesigned in a couple of ways, although the basic sonic part of the circuit is the same. There is a midrange status LED as well as a bypass LED, but the latter only works that way when the unit is AC powered (yes the new one runs on a wall wort or batteries). When running on batteries it's still a "low battery" light. Saves a ton of battery life. The whole power section is revamped for lower noise, more headroom, and stiffer supply rails.

I've owned both. I slightly prefer the older model (the 2000). It's just a more solidly build unit than the new one. Other than that, they are pretty close (tone-wise)... Oh, only big plus on the new one is that it can use an AC adapter, but the batteries on my old 2000 model used to last a LONG time...

I know we are discussing the pedal but are there any new onboard Pope pre's?
