What would be the best footswitch for me to use with my Peavey Mark VIII bass head? Is it compatible with different brands? or do i have to choose a peavey footswitch?

You don't necessarily need a Peavey-branded footswitch, but not all amp footswitches are compatible with each other. What you need to do is see if the manual specifies exactly what type of switching system is used, the polarity, whether it's momentary or latching, etc. and then call around to various gear shops to see if they have a footswitch of any brand that matches those specs. If the manual doesn't specify, then call Peavey and ask.

ZOMBIE THREAD but I thought I'd post anyway because I have info on this.

The original Peavey footswitch for the Mark VIII is no longer available per Peavey customer service. Peavey currently sells a model 03330850 that the Peavey techs say will work. The OSP-2 footswitch is also reported by the manufacturer of that footswitch to be compatible.

I will probably get one with LEDs - I know the OSP-2 has them - because I like to see whether or not the effect is active.
