Former Deep Impact users: What replaced it and why?

Just as the title asks, if you formerly used a Deep Impact but have since retired or sold it, what did you replace it with if you're still working with those sorts of sounds? Are you overall pleased with the results, or do you miss the DI?

Well, bought my DI for $150 and sold it for $600 (couldn't pass up the $)...I bought a MB supersynth..I miss some of the sounds on the DI but love the tweakability of the MB. I'd say it does just fine compared to the DI.

I played the Deep Impact in a store years ago and the only reason I regret not buying it is because I could have sold it for a 300% profit. It didn't blow me away, it does have some killer tracking and sounds, but I found a Boss ME-8B for less money and haven't regretted it. Both have really good synth sounds. To be fair though, it was a rather brief trial scrolling through the patches so maybe I missed out bigtime, but I'm happy with the 8B.

I just sold my DI to fund an amp purchase but It has not been used for quite a while because I have been using a Zoom B2 for synth sounds for a number of reasons. The synth sounds on the Zoom are usable but the real charm is access to all the other effects to augment those sounds.

if i was still using synths i'd without question go back to a korg G5. owned that, the EHX bms, and deep impact.

deep impact had a unique vibe, and the weird tracking was sort of its charm. the small footprint and bypass were nice, but on the whole, the G5 actually sounded like a keyboard synth. better than most cheap key-synths, for real.

so, $550 replaced my deep impact

Where ever did that $550 come from?

I own or have own most bass synths.
If I had to drop the Deep Impact, the Markbass SuperSynth would probably see the most playing. It has similar functions and can approach its tone on many patches.

I had a Deep Impact and sold it because I didn't want to end up sounding too much like Mike Gordon, who already had a big influence on my playing. I replaced it with a G5, Octavius Squeezer, and MB Super Synth over time but have recently abandoned synth pedals alltogether.

I had one for use with my old dub band. Here's the only pic left of my board at that time:

God I miss that band and that board. One of my all time favorite collections of pedals. The open spot was soon filled by a Turbo Rat which sounds awesome blended. But I digress.

I used the Deep Impact for bouncy synth tones and it was perfect for the job.

To me the major synth pedals all sort of have their own vibe. The DI is very 80s/90's synth stuff with a bounce to it. The Korg G5 is great for the vocal filters and is perfect for G Funk type hip-hop sounds. The EHX BMS does 70's prog rock synth sounds and the Octavius Squeezer does more modern, hard edged synth sounds.

If I want the sounds of the AKAI there's really nothing that cops them. The G5 covers some similar ground with the Markbass probably being the closest thing in terms of a substitute. But I just didn't dig the MB. Partly the interface, partly the fact that I don't think you can drop out the clean signal but for whatever other reason it didn't click with me. But worth trying out for sure.

I can't say I miss the Deep Impact because there's no call for it in what I currently do (post-rock band and an infancy stages Thievery Corporation styled project) which is why I sold it but it's great for what it does.

As far as replacing it, I do cop some electronica tones using the tried and true octaver, fuzz, filter/LP filter sweeps with other pedals added for modulation.
