Is it worth $100 more than the normal Octron?

The MicroPog and Unibass are not doing it for me.

Why aren't they doing it for you?

Being analog you're going to get a dirtier sounding octave out of the Octron.

I can't stand the glitchiness.

That's perfectly fine, because I want dirt when using octaves.

Well, that depends on how much you value the ability to individually switch the octave up, octave down, and dry signals on and off - as I understand it, that's the only difference. I have an original Octron, and I don't personally see the need for an Octron 2, but maybe that's just me.

Does Octron work good with bass?
People say that octaves are slighty distorted. Does it mean that thay are distorted or just not 100% clean (as it is with digital octavers)?

Cheers, Kris

Glitchy in terms of tracking issues? Because the POG tracks a lot better than the Octron does.

Yes, the Octron works well with bass. Or to be specific, the Octron2 does. I can't say for sure with the original Octron because I've never tried it.

It isn't that the signal is distorted (and someone can correct me if I'm wrong) but I believe the way it works is that the incoming note is turned into a square wave, the frequency cut in half and then then the pedal processes it into something close to a sine wave before blending it with the dry signal. It's the mere fact that the pedal can't exactly replicate a true tone that leaves the signal slightly clipped and thus "dirty" sounding.

I love the Octron on bass. You need to be at the seventh fret or above for the lower octave to work well, but other than that, it's massive-sounding. And yes, there's an inherent fuzziness to the octave sounds, just like with any analog octaver. My bass sound is fuzzy to begin with, so the Octron works perfectly for me.
