Ok just a few quick new soundclips, this time with no impedence trickery or bass cut EQs. The Lo Tone is known as a more subdued bass fuzz. It has tons of bass. You can make it more aggressive, I have found, with certain things in front of it in bypass (buffers) or a simple bass cut EQ. But I think the best way to get a more aggressive sound is just to play more aggressively. Here's what it sounds like with the gain at noon: http://media.putfile.com/LoTone1
And here's with the gain cranked: http://media.putfile.com/LoTone2
And some of my fuzzed out thumping and plucking: http://media.putfile.com/LoTone4
I mostly do all these clips for myself to reference the tones I'm getting, and I figure I may as well share what I record, but if you want me to play a certain way you can let me know and I'll do so if I can find the time. I realize my approach to the bass isn't necessarily as useful to everyone else. And since I am trying to judge the tones I'm getting here myself any comments would be appreciated, positive or negative.

JetPackBassist becomes TheBurgerMeister
00Funk becomes M.T.A.C
and now
assboglin becomes Mark Olsen
I have to tell you, I have a hard enough time keeping people straight as it is. . .
As for the clips, do you think you could do a couple fingerstyle ones? Maybe one with the gain at noon and one with it dimed?
I'm seriously looking at this pedal and the Bassweet to hopefully fill that spot on my board for a dark, deep wall of fuzz pedal. |

I'll have to go and listen to those clips again, but I thought they sounded a bit similar as bass heavy, "slight amount of dirt" pedals though obviously the Lo-Tone is a light fuzz and the BoR is an overdrive.
Nice playing BTW. Always nice to see a nod to Jimi, especially on bass. |

Not to completely derail this thread, but it reminds me of a story from a woman I used to work with. Both she and her oldest son taught at my school.
In any event, at Easter her daughter's boyfriend came over for the first time and she was introducing the family to him. In doing so, she mixed up the names of her oldest son, Mark and middle son John, who had come out of the closet the year before. Upon being corrected, she put her hands on John's shoulders and said with no pun intended, "I guess I'm getting old, I can't even keep my own children straight." There was a brief silence and then an eruption of laughter.

They are very different boxes, I guess it just goes to show how much the tone is in the hands. What I plan to do is have them on two different sounding settings. What I'd really like is two boxes of rock I guess. I just haven't gotten around to that yet. |

There's no active or passive EQ on the guitar, just your typical standard volume volume tone control configuration. Sorry to be unclear. For these clips I have both pickups and the tone all maxed.

Unfortunely I don't think these recordings capture the girth of the tone that comes out of a rig. Oh well. Here's the gain at noon: http://media.putfile.com/LoTone5
And the gain cranked: http://media.putfile.com/LoTone6 |

My brother, having one of the most atrocious case of FIMS (foot in mouth syndrome) of anyone I know, asked Nance, "where did you grow up?" to which she replied, "San Francisco."
...so he said, with complete innocence, "Ah! Home of the fruits and nuts!"
Shocked silence descended, except for Kay and Nance, who started whooping with laughter as my brother turned purple with embarrassment.
Hi-Lar-I-Ous!
Oh, and the clips sound great! |

Now to sell my multidrive (great, but not what I really want) and get me a Lo-Tone!

thanks again for your clips
