Anyone had any experience with this, especially thru an active bass? I've almost decided on a Super Chili Picoso (unless someone wants to part with their Seranno Picoso...hint hint...), but I admit that this one makes me curious.

The only freak show pedal I've heard was the brown rabbit as played by John from Portugal the Man. Sounded absolutely killer, so I would assume from that that they make some good stuff. |

They apparently have different paintjobs though, and this one is the only one I'd want: |

FWIW, I'm trying to see if I can get my stuff to fit a PT Mini, and/but I need the boost due to my Schecter's preamp apparently being really quiet (especially for an active) - I plug into the active side of my Ampeg combo and dime everything out and it still won't out-loud my 20 watt Acoustic without help. I've been using my VT as a booster for the time being, but I'd like to get a for-real clean boost into the chain, and thus the physical size of the box is a consideration, and thus the question about the #9. I really don't want to spend that kind of money tho unless it's REALLY good.

It would probably sound different than the current factory pre. I've never heard any detractions about the obp-3. It may help solve your volume issues.
This is discussion probably better suited for the pups and electronics subforum though. |

That Aguilar is rather tempting tho...

I got, did a review on it.
It can cut as well as boost.
I find it VERY useful as a buffer/always-on pedal when you use different basses with different volumes, or if you use actives and passives.
Pretty cool little unit, provided you can power it properly for active basses.
A search should find my review. |

I read about it a few weeks ago (might have even been your review), and since then have been drawing a total blank on what it was called and/or who made it, and Google doesn't do well with just 'tiny little bass-frendly overdrive' as a search term.
About the only reason I'd still want a SP over the NOC is the SP's extra 15db output, although either would probably be more than enough for what I need (edit - although it would also probably mean a better power supply than my 1Spot tho, so I can hit the 18v mark) Thanks for the link!
