Well ? no.
Most multieffects give it a try and they all fail.
TO really get a good impression you need expensive systems such as a V-Bass.

I have heard the Boss Slow Gear was capable of this, but they are extremely rare. Any effect will only mimic the swell of a fretless anyways. None I have ever heard can get the right "mwah" to it.

Plenty of affordable (and boutique) variations of the old Slow Gear exist. Envelope-triggered volume swell pedals are by no means rare (although the Slow Gear certainly is). Even the EHX Bass Micro Synthesizer has a volume swell feature built into it.

But yeah, you're right... it's only the swell, not the "mwah". There's no pedal or multi-effects unit that can capture the "mwah", outside of MIDI pickups and other expensive means... and they're still not genuine.

fatsobasso, you might as well buy a fretless bass - it'd be cheaper and far easier.

Well, and even aside from "mwah", there's the naturalness and infinite range of the glisses possible when playing a real fretless, that an electronic version just can't duplicate.

Pedals don't have frets in the first place.
