Here's my setup:
Rickenbacker 4003 - bridge pickup only, full tone
Ampeg SVT Classic 300w head
Ampeg SVT 6x10
I throw the setup on the head to full bass, 9 treble, full mids on setting 5. Super heavy/bright settings...
So...I want to achieve a full, lush sound...especially when using my tremolo and HOG.
I was leaning towards an analog delay like Malekko's Dark 300...then Chris (Whoatherechunk) reminded me about the Holy Grail Plus...
I am using a GGG Digital Delay, but want something darker and more full w/ a Rick. I sold my Holiest Grail b/c I was sick of the popping when I switched reverb channels and banks...unacceptable. I've sold both my Line 6 DL4s b/c I wanted to downsize...I am not interested in chorus. I can get that if I want w/ my PS-3...
I want to stay under $200. Analog delay or reverb? Suggestions please.
Remember...lush, full...under $200.
BTW - The advanced search won't allow "analog delay reverb" to be searched. I went a few pages in and haven't seen this discussion lately. Thanks!

I want to stay under $200. | To me, you've already discovered what you need.
I'm more of a trailing delay / self-oscillation dude, but the 300 Dark is a great reverb unit.

Anyone else want to chime in on this? |

I have my delay *needs* covered nicely; if I could afford/justify a separate dedicated reverb(or faux-reverb via yet another delay)I'd likely look for some funky old standalone spring reverb unit.

how about the mxr carbon copy.....haven't tried it in person...arghhh but it might get you to your destination for a relatively inexpensive price for a high quality analog delay.
enough of "my suggestions" haha. i need to read more than say more on this post! |

All the cool kids are using them. Very lush (to my ears), with a ton of Reverb, Delay, and Combo tones at hand. Can be had on the 'bay for under $150.

It wins over most any pedal reverb I've ever encountered, and I love the Delay/Reverb modes. Super lush.

WAY too bright. that being said, i love my carbon copy. it's the perfect delay tone for me. super full without getting too muddy

I did get to try the RV-3 and wasn't completely sold on it. Maybe I'll try it again next week at practice w/ it in my true bypass loop. |

I have my delay *needs* covered nicely; if I could afford/justify a separate dedicated reverb(or faux-reverb via yet another delay)... | I've been really pleased with the Boss RE-20. I know you said 'under two-hundred', but...
I find myself more and more using the echo as reverb. The reason I copied Bassteban's post is because it was said "..reverb (or faux reverb via yet another delay)". The RE-20 offers one, two or three head playback ('multi-tap delay'), so I find myself using various head combinations for different reverb flavors.
This method also gives me control over the tone - via bass and treble controls - and the decay time - via the regen control. The reverb is preset, but it's great on bass because it cuts highs and lows considerably - in a nice analog spring tank kind of way - so it sits nicely with the bass playing.
I use the reverb section more for either my 'guitar-plus-bass' sound (using an LS-2 line switcher/mixer, a POG, and a Metal Muff) - both echo and 'verb, in that case - also for pick playing especially Surf songs - usually just the 'verb; with no, or little echo.

I like the idea of having tone flexibility, echo, verb and what not w/ the RE-20, buuuuuuut analog delay is analog delay and digital can't beat it...
Ugh...decisions....money and decisions... |

The RV-3 was quite possibly the best pedal ever made with a boss logo on it.
RV-3 If you can find one.
If not. MXR carbon copy if you want delay or EBS dynaverb if you want reverb.
