I have been reading about the bass big muff and was wondering what the major difference is between it and the Fulltone Bass Drive Mosfet.
Thanks

But when it comes to guitar and bass distortion, the wide variety of sounds and degree of gain/distortion has produced three somewhat distinct categories:
Overdrive
"Distortion"
Fuzz
Overdrive and fuzz are easy to tell apart. But "distortion" lies in between... and we always fight about that.
AFAIC, "distortion", when discussed here, usually is talking about those harsher, high-gain, yet defined sounds that remind you more of modern guitar distortion.

I am an old school bassist who typically did not use effects and have been invited into a couple of bands where I could use it. Correct me, but if I want more of an SVT tone, the Fulltone would be the choice.

The Bass Big Muff goes far, far beyond that. Definitely not what you want.

Sometimes I run the Bass Big Muff into the Bass-Drive with the Bass-drive comp-cut switch set on. I do the same with my TurboRat and Bass-Drive.

However if you search on SVT here in the fx forum, you'll get a lot of discussion of how most people try to get that sound (hint: Tech21). |

It's gotten good reviews on here, so far. Just another option in a crowded world of overdrives/distortions/fuzzes.

I got mine a couple of days ago and I am trying hard to get a punchy, neither harsh nor scooped pick sound with the VT Bass. This has never been an issue with the Bassdriver.
Even further, I never experienced excessive mid scoop with the Bassdriver.
So I'll probably sell mine.
(Btw. the same goes for my just aquired Fulltone Bass-drive)

I'd start with the tuner first, then chorus?
