ok so I have a EHX QBALLS for a while now and totally dig that wet thick funk madness. was wondering how it compares to the 3leaf groove regulator. theres a sale going on and was wondering if I should sell my beloved QBALLS and give this pedal a whirl. I knwo that the 3L has an effect loop and that would be nice for my fuzzes to play with it better (or so ive heard never actually tried it). any advice?

They are definately different pedals, but I personally sold my Q-Balls and bought Groove Regulator. I had Spencer make one small mod for me and now it is perfect. That is one pedal that will always be with me.

This is not what the GR does. It is pretty well behaved, is a quality product, and doesn't thin out your sound, but it is not particularly wet. If you keep your Qballs pretty subtle, you may like the GR, but if you go all crazy with it, you may end up disappointed. Far be it from me to try to stop you from GASing, but the GR is not the cure for all filter woes, especially not if you want a wet, slurpy sound out of your filter. If you can pick it up without selling your Qballs first, I'd recommend it.

thanks for the advice thus far, gonna go listen to some soundclips and make a decision. smurf thanks for letting me know that its not wet thick madness b/c thats how i usually run my qballs (lol). i usually run it in LP (full wetness) or BP (about 60% wet). i also use it as a wah-wah with my moog ep-2 and the GR doesn't seem to have that. the biggest selling point to me is the effects loop which everyone keeps ranting about. oh well i'll research further. i will try to get it w/o selling my qballs but i really dig the qballs so worst comes to it then the GR is not for me (at this point in time)
