What effect would you use to get the altered vocal sound that you hear from Sir Nose D'Voidoffunk on "Funkentelechy vs. the Placebo Syndrome"?

First of all, its a little mechanized, probably done by a ring-mod. Then you're going to need a pitch-shifting echo. There are a couple pedals I know of that do that specific effect, but its not gonna be cheap. The Boss PS-3 (out of production, usually sells for somewhere in the 150-200 range on eBay), the Empress Superdelay (in production, about $400) and the Digitech Space Station (out of production, usually sells for $300-400 on eBay) are the ones I'm familiar with. I think I heard that the Digitech Timebender also does this, but I'm not certain. |

300 mS + MOD ECHO Mode: The DELAY knob's maximum time is 300mS. This mode gives the musician the ability to modulate the delay time. Set the depth of modulation by turning the DECAY knob clockwise. If you set the SMMH to have short delay times you can obtain Flanger and Chorus type sounds. With a long delay time you will actually hear each discrete echo change its pitch from your original note. Please note: when using modulation, use caution when the REPEATS knob is set above 3 o'clock. The SMMH may oscillate and blow speakers (or minds or both).

| | | | I know I'm bumping an old thread, but the Digitech Vocal 300 can do the Sir Nose thang, if you tweak it right.
