Furman SPB8 vs other pedal boards

I’ve never actually had a pedal board, primarily because I felt that I didn’t have enough pedals to really need one. At this point I am using an oc2, oc3, tu2, moogerfooger lpf with an expression pedal (might add another as well), chunk systems brown dog. I will also probably be adding a dd5 and a tremolo in the near future.

I’ve been debating the pros and cons of buying a board without power like a pedaltrain or lyt board and then adding something like a voodoo pp2 and also buying a board that has it all ready to go like a furman spb8 or 8c, or the skb version.

My concerns are A) how long are the 9v power cables to connect stuff like boss pedals to something like the voodoo pp2? And also B) Is it not a good idea to patch something like a moogerfooger into that, or is it better to just use the walwart. If that’s the case then maybe it would be best to buy the furman or skb, being that they have 3 prong outlets already setup.

If anyone can give me any really good reasons to go or not go in a certain direction I’d really appreciate it.

Having used both types, here's what I think. The bigger Furman, or even the SKB PS 45, are big flat boards. Thier main advantage is having the power supply built in, and all the "ins and outs" for connection, even a seperate loop, and stereo outs. But they're hard to keep tidy, being flat. The Pedal Pad boards need to add the power supply, and you have to plug your cables directly in the pedal chain, and from the last pedal to the amp, but all the cables and connectors stay neatly tucked away underneath. I've switched to a PP1 from the SKB PS 45. Yeah, I kinda miss the connectivity, and whatnot, but my board is so much easier to manage now. That's the real choice you have to make. Oh, and all the power cables from the Voodoo Labs are plenty long enough.
