Hey dudes,
I'm clearing some space on my board (perhaps some stuff will be on the classifieds soon)
On the edge about keeping my VT deluxe, and currently, I have a broken RAT, and a Fulltone Catalyst as my fuzzes other than the VT.
I'm returning the catalyst, and getting rid of a pedal that rather takes up real estate. I'm going to get a new fuzz, preferably in the 100-180$ range, but I can't decide on which. Ones I've got in great consideration:
Grey Stache, Rat Tail, Supercollider, and Oxide.
My board consists of a few delays a comp and the ones mentioned above. If that makes a difference.
What fuzz would you recommend? |

What fuzz would you recommend? | What do you not like about the VT duluxe? Just curious. Have only seen some OK youtube videos. Seemed cool.

I tried the fuzz factory and it was a little dirty for my taste.
Looking for versatility and mostly, usability. |

Sorry, I'm a shameless endorser of that pedal because it really does sound great and I think is about as close as you can get to a jack of all trades fuzz in such a small form factor. |

If you prefer the muff-tone fuzz to everything else than that narrows it down to the Grey Stache and Supercollider, but opens you up to a world of other muff clones and variants.
If you prefer the gated, synthy characteristics of something like the Woolly Mammoth and the B:assmaster the Oxide may be for you.

Do you want a fuzz with a clean blend?
Personally, I don't find a clean blend a necessity, but it is useful if you don't want a VT anymore, as you could mix in only a little fuzz to get an OD'ish kind of tone.
I have two fuzzes (or is it fuzzii?) on my board for those two very reasons.
Supercollider (modified to hell) and a Brassmaster (modded too..)
Another gated to consider is the Brown Dog. |

In reality, you won't go wrong with any of the above... they're all great pedals; you just need to pick the one that trips your trigger.

Maybe samples of my band's music will help see what I want to do. Not looking for a lot, just want more color to basslines, and maybe more craziness to noise odysseys. Right now, I don't have to cut through the mix crazily well, since I'm the only melody. There's talk of adding a guitarist, so I'd like for it to cut through well.

Here's some dry samples recorded one afternoon. Two piece math and noise rock. Which do you think would suit the style better? | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
