Sorry, the title is a bit misleading. I can create a fuzz tone with my "rig" but would prefer it in a pedal form just because it is inconvenient to get it.
I have a clip here of the dry tone and then the fuzz tone, first a lower riff and then a riff in a higher register. It is a Geddy Lee jazz, no eq or compression. http://www.imeem.com/people/zgdpdQU/music/wpxklti3/antihuman-fuzzwav/
Any ideas?
Thank you,

It works but I would rather not have to adjust all that every time I want to hear it. |

No joke- I bought it after reading that thread recently where the guy bought a turntable preamp to play his bass through (it was late and he didnt have an amp or anything to play through, so he got what he could), and it turned out to have a interesting fuzz from being heavily overloaded. The brand was 'Nexxtech', but the place I went to only had the GE. I bought it for $20 and got the 1/4"-rca adapters, and wa-la, fuzz! It even retains the lowend very well! hah..
So yeah, thats my recommendation. |

So yeah, thats my recommendation. | Have you tried running it through itself yet? I've been meaning to but i can't find any extra phono plugs. |

There is a considerable volume drop when doing this and added noise, though I had to use an rca-1/8th" cable, into an 1/8-1/4 adapter (the other two cables are rca-1/4" and the preamp is totally quiet when used with only those two) which may introduce some noise- thats my guess anyway.
When running only one in and one out, the output is HUGE and I have to keep my gain and volume way down- it may even boost the low end a bit... or cut highs and boost the total output, giving the impression of boosted lowend.. something like that (reminds e of the devi fuzz's a bit). Im using a passive pbass with a hot output that overloads many of my pedals easily, but it still wasn't quite as distorted as your clip- though it doesn't sound half bad, better than my bass through 'my' guitarists sparkle drive... imo.. Turning down my bass's volume cleans it up quite a bit, and boosting my signal with another pedal before the preamp makes it sound more like your nexxtech preamp. |
