Ok, so I've joined a stoner/doom type project, where fuzz is on everything... Now I have a few fuzzes that I like the sound of ( boss fz-2 hyper fuzz, zoom ultra fuzz, russian big muff) all of which are quite scooped in the voicing. I'm wanting something suitably grainy, angry, Very heavy sounding ,That will come through the mix enough that I can hear what I'm doing. Anyone have any suggestions? |

| | | | I tried the Way huge (instore) today. I found it very creamy , but not all that angry sounding- must admit I expected much more from it. I will have to get hold of one to try in a band setting. |

I have an original, there's also a newer hybrid plus version, massive lows, great crunch, especially on the "heavy" position. I typically use it on mild because I want something a little different from my ohter pedals, but I think a messdrive on heavy would do the trick for you. |

YMMV. |

Internal dials:
Clip - just slightly past 3:00
Voice - 9:00
External Knobs:
Loudness - just past 9:00
Filter - 1:00
Sustain - just past 3:00
Minis:
Crunch - minimum
Scoop - between 2nd and 3rd notch from the end
You'll love the cut and it is DOOOMY!! Thank me later.

I haven't played a fuzz that hits in the boosting low mids range, since most fuzzes scoop mids.
Heavy fuzz + clean blend is what works best, IMHO.
I have always used the GGG-tuned muff + clean blend to get the job done. Tone for days. The GGG-tuned has the most mids I've ever heard in my short time of building muffs.
The Swollen Pickle has been getting A LOT of praise lately (even from the pros). Worth a try!
An EQ pedal before a muff boosting mids might help you and would be a fairly cheap solution, as you can pick them up used if you wait.

The tone knob (its more like a filter) can go from aggressive mids to fully scooped. Highly recommended. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
