looking for a good fuzz pedal to get a sound somewhat like robert sledge from ben folds five or chris wolstenholme from muse.
does anyone use the bass big muff pi? what about a tube screamer? any other suggestions? money is not a big issue.

They only have sound clips on guitar, but it sounds awsome on bass, and the mix knob allows you to dial in your dry signal so you retain your low end

but at $900 i wouldnt like to take a risk, its not the kind of thing you could easily sell off afterwards. |

You also mentioned the Tube Screamer, which is more of an overdrive than a fuzz. It's lower gain, and more midrange-oriented. I really like my Digitech Bad Monkey, which is a variation on the Tube Screamer, but with bass and treble controls and it costs $50. |
