Fuzz Recommendation

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Creepy Fingers Pink Elephant, and I love the controls but I might be losing interest in the tone. Is there another fuzz out there with only Vol, Blend, and Dirt controls that I can try?

I want to keep it at 3 knobs max... otherwise I just twiddle knobs. A Muff will not work b/c it doesn't have a blend, and adding one would add a 4th knob.

Thanks!

And I only use active basses. That's a pretty important detail that I forgot to mention

three knobs, one of them blend. theres a fourth on the side but i think its a secondary one you dont need to fuss with much.

The knob on the side is the blend. That's just how he rolls (the blend on my Tri Pie 70' is in the same spot). Asking for fuzzes with a blend knob, but no tone knob, is going to make for a short list. How about switches? Are they out of the running as well?

Well, the Brassmaster-style fuzzes will have three knobs (gain, fuzz volume, clean volume), as well as two switches. And they sure don't sound like a muff.

If you're running a tube amp and not looking for over the top fuzz, then I recommend the OxFuzz Bass.

Pickle Pie B Hella Fuzz is pretty sweet; It can do any range of fuzzes its pretty versatile. It's a Muff clone with 4 knobs( the 4th is a clean blend) so it's like a 3 knob pedal with the one thing extra you want. It has more mids than a regular muff - so you can really shine in the mix if you want; otherwise you can just scoop the mids like a regular muff!

I have a Pickle Pie B also, it's my first and only fuzz but I love it. Easy to get a good sound out of and just sounds really *good.* I love it.

I just had a revelation. The thing I don't like is the tone knob our any eq. So what fuzz is good for active basses without a tone knob or eq?

I am confused. Are you asking for a fuzz pedal without tone or EQ, or are you stating your bass has no tone or EQ knobs?

I've "permanently borrowed" my brother's Protone Monster Fuzz. It has 3 knobs and works great with my Ibanez SR900 active bass and Fender Precision for that matter.
Plenty of bottom end.

I was just reading about a passive pedal from Cave Passive Pedals called The Wasp. It was very buzzy like a 60's fuzz.
