Turns out fuzz is my favorite effect. So for the benefit of the forum, I shall present a
FUZZ SHOOTOUT!! Earthbound Audio Supercollider (would like a BEAST again...ha yeah right like THAT'S gonna happen)
A muff with depth and mids knob. Mids go up to about flat, and the depth really adds some note definition when you start cranking it to the right. Turns the wall of fuzz to some beautiful articulation. Each note has its own growl, and I LOVE that. When playing certain ways, you get those characteristic Muff-harmonics. It is THE distortion I always have my head. Fits perfect in the mixes in both my bands. Super low, super doomy.
Analog.man Sun Face NKT-275 (white-dot, normal gain, w/ Sun Dial)
ONE JUICY FUZZ for sure. The lack of some low-end and the uncertainty of the germanium trannies (and its high price tag) kept me from holding onto this one. Set the volume on the pedal, set the max fuzz you'll want, then adjust with the volume on your guitar, it's that easy!
I actually liked the sound of this with my bass in active mode (since there's a buffer already, might as well make it active). The tone with my Frankenjazz was..eh, so so. I really liked this stacked, in my chain AFTER my Supercollider. Really gave some teeth to the SC's growl. Analog.Mike offered to bass-mod this for his standard $40 bench charge plus shipping.
I noticed little difference to my ears between on a battery and with a battery clip adapter.
It was a higher, fizzier sort of distort. Reaaaaally had some character. I'll probably snag one up and have it bass-modded again someday.
Blackout Effectors Musket (version 1)
The apparent muff- and Supercollider-killer. It sure is drivey and mids-happy. TOO mids-happy in my opinion; it sound more compressed to my ears than the Supercollider (yes, even with the Pre all the way down). Very versatile, I must say, but still muffy all the time. Small form is nice, too.
Wren and Cuff Pickle Pie B
Holy brightness! It cuts pretty well in a mix. The combination of the saturation and clean blend knobs allow you to bring is as much clean signal as you could want. To my ears so far, even on low saturation, the fuzz itself seems a bit too saturated and buzzy.
Oh yeah, the shape knob! What a palette of tones. To the right it gets bassy and kinda squished, and all the way too the left is cutty and trebly. Everything in between is fairly usable as well!
The small form factor is pretty sweet too.

It's still on the way, but I'm fairly excited for this one! Big germanium fuzz, clean and fuzz volumes, neat toggles, bad-ass custom finish..yummmm
Fuzzrocious Grey Stache
I snagged #001, but it might be a while before it's here. I chose the Tone Bypass for the 2nd footswitch (seems more useful, IMO).
I play in two different groups, one is an alternative/blues-rock type band, and the other is indie/metal (just so you have an idea of my applications).
