Some say the Big Muff and Fuzz Face sound pretty similar. Maybe yay, perhaps nay. What say you? Answer later.

Muff Face? Big Fuzz? Sun Pickle?

Dunno which is which, don't really care to much either, but that second one is pure fuzz ecstasy.

Yeah, the first one had a tad to much bass in it.

Nad, do you ever run an overdrive into your pickle?

I haven't tried overdrive into it, but I love a clean boost slamming it hard, makes it sound frickin' huge.

Pretty much the same thing I do with my Gemini, except it adds a little more sparkle instead of just clean.

The level of potential innuendo in this thread is staggering.

Back on topic, I liked the second one better. Is that the Sun Face?

Pickles, pies, faces, and muffs. Sounds like a party.

Traditional Big Muff and Fuzz Face circuits sound nothing alike. You're dealing with modded versions of those. I'll go with Big Muff clones myself.

I figured that it was already painfully obvious that these aren't identical clones, but then again I've never read the fine print on my Capital One User Agreement, so what do I know?

Sounds like germanium first to me, and then more scooped (if slightly so) on the second one.

In any event, they both sound awesome! The Sun Face doesn't need a clean blend?

2nd is the sun face. i own one and love it. it's my favorite bass fuzz. the germanium nkt-275's really give it a nice smooth warm character.

Has anyone got an original big muff and an original fuzz face to compare so we can hear the difference between stock models? That would be cool.

I voted for the first but I'm sure the second is a correct answer.

The second fuzz sounds rounder, smoother and warmer, and much more natural. The first has this nice roar that I like and cuts through mix better, while the second is more all around fuzz. I have also felling that the first one is slower, while the second is very dynamic.

I thought the first was a little edgier, with more articulation etc while the second was warmer and more focused. I thought they sounded very similar though and might easily be indistinguishable in context. I like the second better.
Nad, does that Sun Face work ok with an active inst?

the sun face isn't modded. its the exact same as the original, just true bypass.

Not as bad as I thought it would sound, but no, not very good either. Less than ideal is a good description, as opposed to say, sounding like complete ass. The Pickle Pie B works great with actives though.

I'll answer the question that the entire world has been waiting for later tonight.
