Fuzz/Wah/Synth

I'm new to using effects so be patient. I'm looking for a Fuzz/wah/synth sound for a couple of tunes. I play a Fender 5 string jazz w/ active PUs thru a ampeg SVT 6 PRO. I started w/ a boss me50 multi. It padded the sound to much so I got rid of it. Next, I bought a Mooger 101 filter and still have it but can,t find exactly what I want. I've ran it straight and thru the loop. I'm thinking I need a fuzz pedal, but which one. I spent the weekend trying several pedals. Boss,{I liked the octave pedal, thats it}. No to digitech. The little big muff was tinny to me. I wasn,t real thrilled with MXR either. It sounded padded. Is chunk systems or maybe pigtronix good or should I keep the mooger with a good fuzz pedal?

Might want to try an octave down pedal along with your fuzz. Also makes a difference in the order of your effects. Fuzz -> envelope will sound different than envelope -> fuzz. Or, you might try one of the dedicated synth pedals out there. Although that is up to you as they can get quite pricey. I'll allow you to do a search for them instead of listing them all here. (there is actually a thread with a really good synth shootout done by Markjazzbassist and Mysticboo)

Keep the Moog, maybe add a nice overdrive, (EBS Valve Drive), and an octave, (Ehx Octave Multiplexer), that should get you home. Note, those are my choices, your taste will probably differ from mine, but the point is, you're well on your way with the Moog pedal.

It sounds like you can afford good gear, so I'd say go with the Malekko B:assmaster, Z.Vex Fuzz Facotry or maybe a Dwarfcraft Devices the Great Destroyer.

Definitely keep the Moog and get an expression pedal if you don't already have one. That should make it a bit more useful.

Octave down depends on taste. Take a look at the Digitech Whammy just cause you can do some fun things with it that most others won't do (see: Bootsy Collins). Otherwise the Boss OC-2, EHX Octave Multiplexer, EHX Micro POG and EBS OctaBass all have good reps around here for the most part.
