Posted the other one, and still have a ton of time to kill. I got fooling around recording and decided I'd do a blind fuzz battle to see who wins. Fuzz 1 - Frantone Basssweet Fuzz 2 - Devi Ever Bass Fuzz
Basssweet crushes: 33-5

To date, the one I own is my favorite fuzz tone ever. I don't actually think the clip fully represents its awesomeness, although I don't say that as any sort of criticism--I know this was a quick fun thing for you to do, and I appreciate it--just saying it's even better "in person".

I loved that fuzz too. It was a lot more "spitty" with active basses, but not unusable. And with a passive bass it was the closest I ever came to finding that perfect dark, warm, non-buzzy wall of fuzz that I wanted.
Again, I don't have a use for it in anything I'm doing currently (and the tradeoff for that great dark sound was that it didn't cut through a mix) but it's a great fuzz.
Mine sounded different too. I think that's a function of gear, and more importantly playing style, rather than settings necessarily. It's interesting to note that I've thought a couple fuzzes sounded better in my hands than in grygrx's clips. But just as often (if not more) he's gotten much better sounds out of fuzzes than I did.
Just underscores why fuzz is such an individual choice. Oh, and thanks for doing these grygrx, this was fun.

I agree it's no good with active basses, but right now all my basses are passive. And you're probably right about it not cutting through the mix, but I only play for my own enjoyment these days. Passive P --> that fuzz --> REDDI --> loud amp = me happy. |

I found out the circuit has been tweaked over the years (it is indicated on the board). This pedal was a Rev 1, I asked if there were any other revisions and got this response... Quote: |
Yes the Bassweet that you have differs from the current version, the new ones are a bit tamer in that they have much more control in the lower Sustain settings and a different tone contour.
| I sent it in to get updated, and it's a little less boomy on the low end. |

I got mine (mind you the case is beat to dirt) for $90. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
