Thanks. Thats Exactly what I was wondering. I wasn't even paying attention to the gate/boost mod. Wow. Badass. Decisions decisions.

Hahaha seriously BDPG, DD and OSD will always be in my collection. Those three just work wonders together and alone. The Rat is definitely in that group of worth while pedals.

OSD gate/boost mod is worth it over a 2nd distortion setting in my opinion.

I'm looking for something that can be an 'always on' OD, which leeds me to the DD, but I have fallen in love with the sound of the OSD. What do you think?

Also, if I get the OSD with the second gain setting, how do the foot switches switch between them? Does one turn it on and the other toggles? Do both switches control the separate setting so if you had G1 on and hit the switch for G2 does it add it on top of G1?

I would like to be able to have a low gain 'always on' setting and be able to kick it up a notch with the second gain setting.

So, OSD or DD???
OSD, for sure. Such a great overdrive. I love it. You could go with the demon king, which has the boost and a feedback loop, if your into that type of thing. I wasn't, but then I tried it .And now I can't say enough good things about it. That and my pre-amp are my two "always on, need to have" pedals. Eveything else is just for fun.

I've cycled through a lot of Fuzzrocious pedals. The grey stache, Oh See Demon and Broke Dick Peanut Gallery are three that I have held onto the longest and with the most affection. GS -> BDPG = MASSIVE MASSIVE TONE!!!!! OSD is just a sexy overdrive that really gives your tone some edge in the mix. (I keep my OSD on the lighter side of the break up).

Dark Driving

I need some help from the Dark Driving users out there. I really like the sound of my pedal but it seems to be getting lost in the mix when I turn it on. It could be that I need to turn up but it really seems like it's the same volume as my clean sound. Any tips for how you guys eq your DD pedals? I've got the newer version. I've got the boost switch on (on the left) the left knob almost all the way counter clockwise and I'm dialing in the amount of distortion with the right knob. Does that sound right? Any suggestions?

Set it back to stock: left knob fully counterclockwise, middle a hair above unity, right knob fully clockwise.
Look at your amp's eq as well.

You have to adjust both. All knobs are interactive. IME as you lose drive, you lose presence, but YMMV. Tigerbass (Allen) is the best man to ask. He lives and dies by his DD.

Fuzzrocious multieffects pedal? I don't even want to know how much that thing would cost (to buy or to build).

Speaking of the DD, does anyone have a sample utilizing the bright switch?

He's done custom one-off's. I've seen up to three of his pedals in a single enclosure. I had a Grey Stache with an envelope filter once.

A digital multi-unit or a box with more than one pedal in it? If the former, we don't have the money to invest or clientele to make that worth the investment. If the latter, we take on custom projects very often. Please email us if this is something you're interested in discussing off-forum.

Hi guys, figured this might be a good place to post a question/comment I've had in mind since I've been checking out Fuzzrocious a lot.

Lately I've been playing a vintage DOD 250 (yellow) with an LS-2 clean blend and it's been giving me an awesome, in your face, mid heavy distortion tone. Definitely in the line of Young Widows, Russian Circles, etc. Downside is I'm trying to save some room on my board as well as not risk ruining my vintage DOD (It's probably to the point of needing a good run over inside). So I came across the Rat Tail as I've always liked RAT's on both bass and guitar. I know the bands I listed use Rat's, including the Rat Tail. It might have been covered before, and by all means I mean NO disrespect to Fuzzrocious, but I don't dig any of the clips posted on the site or videos as far as tone and/or playing style, nor can I hear a resemblance to the RC/YW tone at all. Again, subjective and by all means no disrespect. I understand the process of what comes out post recorded to live, etc... To me, all the clips sound too loose and flubby with the fuzz/distortion being a either too honky or too smooth/lost to cut. Again, I'm not trying to knock Fuzzrocious down, I'm actually really interested in the Rat Tail. I suppose I'm not HUGE on having the absolutely heaviest and lowest low end imaginable, and it seems like the low end is overpowering in a lot of the clips (which I know is what makes this pedal superior on bass than a standard Rat). I play a two amp rig, like the bands I posted, which gives me plenty of low end on it's own. I'm not looking to add more, yet I'm not looking to lose any either but I'm definitely more of a MIDS cranked while bass and treble are balanced around that. Just wondering if the Rat Tail is still something I should look into for a straight, aggressive, mid heavy distortion. I'm using a Wren and Cuff TFR for all my heavy, slow, fuzz heavy riffs. I need a "on all the time" distortion that is tight, punchy and aggressive during fast and mid tempo riffage. Hope that makes sense

I just rather ask/post before a purchase, than buy something and dis it just because I didn't personally like it, regardless of it being a great pedal. If it's of any help, I'm playing a P-bass to a 4x 6550 driven Univox UX1501 (very similar to a Sunn Model T) through a flatback 8x10 and a Sunn Sorado through a 2x15.

Thanks in advance.

considering Nick from young widows and Brian from russian circles both use a rat tail on their boards I'd say that a rat tail is a good bet

I think an Oh See Demon would be more up your ally.

We would gladly post other clips or link to videos if people would share them.

The Rat Tail would suit you better than the Oh See Demon, as the OSD is bassier and more lower mid-accented. I use the RT as my always-on drive. I'll be posting songs ASAP to my old band's bandcamp. You'll hear a grindy, midsy drive that is not flabby or honky.

As it's been stated, check out bassists like Nick from Young Widows and Brian Cook, who both use and own RTs. The latter used it on Empros.

Thank you guys for the quick replies. I do highly (oh, very highly) enjoy Nick and Brian's tone, which is what attracted me to the Rat Tail in the first place. I was just thrown off by the clips I've heard from the site and the few on youtube. Respectfully.

If anyone has links, clips, or can guide me to more sounds the Rat Tail can produce, I would very much appreciate it

Just received my Rat King (Kid Painted) I got from the classifieds here. It is brilliant and fit nicely just next to my Grey Stache

My kid painted DD just arrived, only been able to spend 5 minutes with it so far, but I'm loving what I'm hearing!
