I jammed with an old guitar playing friend I haven't seen in years last night. He always swore against any kind of effects.

His half stack was acting up so he had to had to play through some small combo the drummer had. I let him use my OSD for some dirty tone, and he converted on the spot. He just went bonkers over the sound. Once he tried the gate/boost I thought I was going to have pry it from his dead hands. He came over to play through my board today and couldn't get enough of the RT, OSD, and BDPG combo.

He'll be purchasing some Fuzzrocious tonezz after the holidays are over. He's actually dragging some other guitar players my house this week to be enlightened, too.

Digging my Dark Driving V2.. I really like feeding the DD into the B3K, great tone that fills the space when the guitar player goes for the solo. Looking into getting a BDPG next.

The Earth will tilt on its axis thanks to that heavy combination. And clips will be a necessity.

I wanted to give this post a bump for those curious about the OSD. It was the last post on the prior page, so it's easily missed.

Rat King

I am really enjoying the Rat King so far, it's simply cool.

Here it is with its Grey Stache sibling, quite the dynamic duo

That's not as interesting as it seems

It's just a battery pack I made for my pedals. Basically a box with 16 Eneloop AA batteries in it, two banks of 8 batteries in parallel (9v of DC power, give or take). The 10.1 is a little LED voltmeter I have on it with a switch to operate the DC out and another to operate the voltmeter. It's pretty big right now, I might move it to a smaller enclosure one day if I can find the time.

It's a poor man's Sanyo Pedaljuice, for 15$ in parts and it powers the pedals for what seems like forever.

I recently joined a cover/originals band. We play a lot of 90's through today rock and their originals are a mix between post rock and punk. Very fun band. I had my first gig with them last night at an "End of the world" party. My pedal board shorted out between song #2 and #3 in the set list. Luckily it wasn't during the middle of a song. Some party go-er stumbled over it on their way back from getting beer :/

Since the only thing I really "need" is some dirt, I pulled my OSD off and went with just that for the rest of the night. Worked like a champ. Sounded like pure awesome and I got several compliments on my "distorted tone". We know it's an overdrive pedal, but non-musicians don't know. They just know it sounded bad ass.

Props Ry.

My worst nightmare! Glad it worked out though!

I've got the boost switch on (on the left) the left knob almost all the way counter clockwise and I'm dialing in the amount of distortion with the right knob. Does that sound right? Any suggestions?
I wanted to follow up on my own post. Apparently all I had to do was turn up just a hair above unity. The DD pedal sounds fantastic. I'm hearing myself fine now and really digging the sound I'm getting.

Can't believe I've never thought of this. I've got a small lithium battery powered pure sine wave inverter for photography strobes. I should give that a shot and see if that lowers the noise floor some! Thanks for the idea

You should try it. I started using eneloops because of my macro photography hobby. The battery pack, as it stands now, lasts hours and hours. I don't have pedals that require 18 volts right now, but, if I ever get some, I will simply create another power out port where two 9 volt banks are serialized. It's so simple to make and the only real cost is the batteries.

I gave it a whirl. First plugged into a noise reducing power strip, then into thenlithium pack. There was line noise on both, I forgot until I packed everything away that my space heater was on in the other corner. But form what I could tell so far with studio headphones, it seems....more clear. Could be my ears playing tricks but there may be something more to it. I'll so some more monkeying around with it later in the week.

Now if only it was powerful enough to run my GK MB800 for an hour

Ah, my little Phil Jones Briefcase works nicely on a 12v battery. But, it's not 800w

I wish I would of seen this post earlier! Glad to see you got it working right.
I use mine ALOT for all different styles. It's a WONDERFUL thing to have at the beginning of your chain to work with literally any pedal you have.

+1 I struggle to keep it off my board but currently it is off due to waiting for a few things to arrive to determine what dirt stays.
