I'm considering getting a DOD FX33 Buzz Box clone with a couple of modernizations from Wounded Paw. Mainly, it'll be true bypass with a reliable switch, and will have a standard Boss-style power input.
It's been a long time since I've played with a Buzz Box: I know it's based off of an MXR Blue Box >> Rat, or rather squarwave -2 oct fuzz >> DOD grunge, but does it have a similar gate to the Blue Box? I ask because I'm thinking about an input gain control so the gate will be controllable.
For the folks who have experience with this pedal: Are there any other modifications you'd have done? I'm commissioning this thing, so I may as well have it made to be extra awesome. |
