Question Fx Chain. Were to put what!?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello there TB friends. I have a question. And i hope you can help me here.

Recently i bought a GT-10B multipedal fx. It's very good, and it's all i need in terms of effects and will be my main pedalboard for the years to come.

I have a American Standard Jazz Bass. And i team him with a Sadowsky outboard preamp. Sounds amazing good. But now i have a question.

Here should i put the sadowsky preamp in fx chain? the GT-10B allow me to choose were to put any external pedal via fx loop in any place in the chain.

My first idea was to put the sadowsky just after the bass and then the GT-10B.

What do you think?

How can i make this to take more out of my bass, my preamp and my pedalboard?

Excuse my english.

Put the preamp last so you utilize the tone it gives

Use the preamp in the GT-10B Send/Return loop, and place it next to the GT-10B preamp, and ensure the GT-10B preamp is "off" while you use the external one, because dual preamps in series don't sound so good.
You could probably setup some "Assigns" to toggle between the two preamps, by turning on the S/R loop while turning off the GT-10B preamp with the second Assign.

For typical placement of the External preamp (S/R loop) in the GT-10B internal chain, Modulation effects, compressor, Wah first, then preamp/distortion, then delay based effects after.
But that is a general guide, there really are any fixed rules, just experiment with what works best for you.

I would put the preamp in the loop and the GT-10B between your bass and your preamp.

To answer your question is to find the tone you want. We can't asnwer that for you, but my recomendation is what I would do, or at least, where I would start. If that doesn't work for you, then switch it around. The preamp is designed to go before the amp to control tone (hence the "pre"). The GT is designed to provied effects to your guitar signal. So, put the preamp in the loop to control the tone the amp is pushing. Put your GT in line with your bass to provide effect on your playing.
