fx wizards, any small "arco" units ?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Boss GT-6B (the big red multi-) and I love the couple of arco string bass patches. What I'd love is to minimize my set up and just have a single small pedal that does similar arco sounds.

Any suggestions ??????????

A user here got a very good arco simulation using a Digitech Digiverb on the gated reverb setting (with some hard picking IIRC). The soundclip is gone now, but it was convincing enough.

How about a volume swell pedal, like a Slow Gear or clone?

I tried the Slow gear clone form behringer and its crap. The volume-swelll time is way to short... far form bow simulating...

One the other hand, the other day i recorded a wonderfull dublebass-with-bow sound using my jazzbazz, the vt bass distortion pedal, facing the amp to a wall (about 4-5 feet away) and placing the mic behind the amp (to capture only the wall's reverb).

I was actually amazed.

If I remember right, Guyatone has a micro pedal that does a volume swell. Their stuff is tiny and great bang for the buck, and it might be worth a try.

the arco sound on the Big Boss unit is magical....very Cello-like at times. I just want to minimize my set up, but don't want to lose that ability.

Will check out volume swell angle. thanks

The E-bow is the smallest effect unit I have (on loan technically).
Together with a volume & delay pedal, it makes for crazy string sounds - even distorted if I "play" it above a pickup!

E-bows are a little over-used in my circle of musicians, don't want to be another. but thanks for the idea.
