the garage sale score of my life (micromoog clip inside)

Sign in to disble this ad
I was visiting a friend over the weekend and as both of us are pro-am ebay hustlers, we hit some garage sales together.

at one place, he spotted a dusty keyboard in a dark corner and pointed it out to me. this is what i found:

now I know what you're thinking - this doesnt belong in the effects thread. but not only is this "simple" synth very cool, it also has an audio input, which makes it a gigantic effect pedal.

I'm not just talking about a lowpass filter, either. The filter can be modulated in a number of ways, allowing you to emulate Bernie Worrell "flashlight" tones (with an octaved bass input), execute outstanding ring mod type effects, and everything inbetween

you've just inspired me to hit up some garage sales and thrift shops. I once found an acoustic head for $15 at a thrift shop.

Wait...how much did you pay? It's not the "score of a lifetime" unless you got it for peanuts.

And the bass line from "Flashlight" rules! So simple, so funky!

That's freaking glorious. I got half of my rig for a pitance at a sale by a guy cleaning out his dead grandfather's storage unit. Not nearly as cool as that thing. Damn. Sweet action man.

It cost me less than the price of a hamburger. But keep in mind it was covered in thick dust and the keyboard was NOT clean. I still have to brush it up a bit.

Joeinsprings: i still have to tune it but it sounds EXCELLENT, totally clean wit no crackle, none of the pots are noisy. I also have yet to check all the i/o but basically it is lookin good!

Looking at ebay, it looks like if you paid less than $1500, you scored big time.
