GeminiDrive Bass Overdrive Effects Pedal or Lite version.

Curious if anyone has it or tried it? Sounds very good based on the clips on their site. Opinions? Thanks.

I have version 1 and quite frankly it is one of my most used pedals. Very tasty overdrive. I need to get off my bum and send it in for an upgrade though.

What was (is) the upgrade? Specific likes/dislikes? What pedal would you most compare it to? Thanks.

Actually, I dunno quite what the upgrades do. All I know is that they bring it up to the current versions sound, and that the overdrive is warmer is better in the low gains settings.

I really love the sound of it, and the dual channel (overdrive and clean) helps keep your original tone intact. I suppose I don't really like the pop when the pedal is engaged, but it's inherent to the design.

As far as comparing it, I can't help you there.

I have found that my Gem has more and/less of that pop depending on where it is the chain and what pedals are before and/or after it. I have yet to find a logic in it, but in my current setup (bass > passive EB volume > Gem > Ruiner > M9) the pop is barely noticeable.

YMMV.

I'm not familiar with this pedal, but a pop that's "inherent to the design" is a bad design - there's no reason this can't be fixed.

Yeah, you do. As nice as MkI is, MkII is much nicer. The high gain sounds are still there in full force, but you can get really sweet low gain, mild boost settings easier than with MkI.

To the OP, if you have the extra $$ I'd recommend the GeminiDrive.

So, which would you prefer the GeminiDrive or the Source Audio Multiwave Distortion Pro?
