Gentlemen, I need your guidance! Is there a multi-effects pedalboard available for bass in todays market place that offers not only the usual array of effects, but also alternate tuning? I've looked at the Roland GR-55 guitar/bass synth, but it requires a Roland GK-3B pickup be added to the bass which is something that I would prefer not doing. But it does do what I need. So other than the GR-55, what's out there that will allow a bass to be tuned concert pitch 440, yet sound like it's tuned a semi-tone lower? Thx in advance. TD |
Many multieffect units do this, to varying degrees of success in terms of tracking and tone. My GT-10B does it; monophonic tracking is good, tone is poor. My Pitchfactor also does it, with better tracking and tone (albeit not perfectly transparent tone). Quote:

I just went out and played with my Line6M13 and the pitch glide effect was really excellent if you don't need that low E to sustain for a really long time. I'd say it can hold out for about a 4/4 measure or two at 120BPM before you start getting artifacts. I wouldn't call it straight up glitching, in a heavy mix I don't think you'd notice it, but with the bass exposed it isn't very subtle. Other than that it sounds very natural (much better than I expected) and higher on the register you can even play root-fifth double stops with decent tracking. The tube comp model placed before the pitch glide helped a little, but only prolonged the inevitable. I know the Zoom multis have some sort of pitch glide, but I don't know how their tracking is. Hope that helps. |
Here's a clip of the M13: http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12197453 If this does what you want, M5 is cheaper, smaller and should do this exact sound. |
I decided to buy the Boss GT-10B and see how it works out. If it doesn't, I have 30 days to return it. Then I would try the Line 6 M9. TD |
Yes there are multi-effects that can alternate tunings. the line 6 m series(i.e m5, m9, and m13) is one of them. the zoom b3 is another one that can do that. |
I use the pod hd. Pitch shifting, delays, reverbs, distortion/fuzz/overdrives, flange, phasers, bass octaver, and all kinds of weird but FUN stuff. It has different settings to maximize the ins and out to run in from of an amp or in the effects loop. As I use mine more for reverbs delays and ambient stuff I run it in my effects loop. Just be carefull the bass model is nothing like the bean, pro, and I think the 400. Only those models have all the effects and the ability to put them in whatever order you want |
