Germanium Muff on Bass?

I have been interested in picking up a decent pedal for a very gritty sound. Bass Muff seems pretty cool from what I hear. I am curious about this peal, which I think was designed for guitarists. I like the option of OD and Distortion... a touch of distortion might be what I'm looking for.

Previously I used a Mesa Bass 400 and ran it to slight OD levels. This sounded awesome on recordings but I had to sell this rig a while back. I've always been interested in going a little heavier with OD while retaining good definition.

I like this style of OD/distortion (which was actually done going through an old-ish Mesa guitar amp)-

I was interested in this pedal as well and tried it out the other day, very nice dirt and tone varying possibilities. I AB'd it with a Bass Blogger and while the Blogger was obviously more suited for bass (better low end, ratty noise cleared with ease), the G. Muff just sounded nasty (in a very good way...) and offered more experimentation. Want subtle grit with some bark in your tone? The overdrive mode is just for that. The distortion mode sounds like a Big Muff but with a firecracker rammed up its ass, combine it with the OD and its huge.

I only spent about an hour toying with it but I'd say it's worth taking a look at if you're not looking for another simple one trick stomp Muff. IMO, it definitely has an edge over the Bass Muff.
