Getting My Deep Impact Back Thursday!

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought my Deep Impact in 2006 as a new unit from a Talkbasser here. I didn't use it much and stopped playing for a couple of years. Then last year, I needed to start using it for some funk, '80s stuff and disco that we are playing. Unfortunately, it was a very inconsistant unit. It would work, not work, cut all signal to anything beyond the unit or just not turn off at all.

I asked some questions here about it and got some responses about sending to Virtual Sound Technology for repairs. There have been Talkbassers who have had the same problems with the DI and since those repairs, they've had no problems. Finally, with me building a new pedal board (thread to come), I finally mailed it out for repairsat the end of last month. I just got the UPS e-mail notification that it should be back in my hands Thursday! Only one problem. I'll be in Boston on business from Wednesday until Sunday. So I get it Monday when I go to my office (where it is being shipped)!

Man, this thing better finally work!

Way cool man. I just got a DI about a month ago. I checked all the solder joints, which were fine, and the unit performs great. Just in case something starts to go haywire, what did they diagnose the problem as and how much did the repair cost?

They said there were some loose solder joints and they secured something else. I forget what the bill was for, but I think it was around $140 which included $400 insurance on the shipping. I'll update you when I receive the bill on my credit card.

That's cool that VST got a good turn around time on your unit. They are champions at taking their time and charging up the b*tt.

Thank you very much for that link. I really didn't give this pedal the time it was due. I actually copied and pasted to a MS Word document some settings I saw here at Talkbass (maybe from that thread) for future use.

If I come up with anything new, I'll add it.

Thanks again!
