Getting A Pedel over from the states...

Sign in to disble this ad
...so I am looking at 3 differant pedals:
  1. EHX Bass Balls Nano
  2. MXR Phase 90
  3. EHX Small Stone Nano

I have no idea which one I should get, I love the sounds of the bass balls, but people say it has limited or no use, which should I get?

I assume you mean "bass balls" and not "big balls" in the list above. If so, this is very different from the other two, and I think you need to figure out what kind of sound you are after first. Do a search here on TB, and I'm sure you'll find clips of all three pedals.

Using the search function here, you will find countless threads talking about those pedals.

But basically:
1. I admit BIG BALLS is a cooler sounding name for a bass pedal . Well, it's a double envelope filter, or envelope follower, I never know... So it reacts to your playing intensity, and offers an integrated distorsion do harsh things up. Very unique because it generates a specific tone, that some may not find limited, not very versatile or easy to use in a band context. In brief, you might get bored with it. Like others said, searching and hearing samples here is the best way to know if you really want this pedal.

2. Classic phaser pedal, you can't go wrong with it... You know what's a phaser, right? A mod or two can improve the general tone, but bersonally, I am very satisfied with the pedal as it is, and I don't care about the bypass, which is pretty bad, according to BPFs here - By Pass Freaks

3. Sounds also like a good phaser choice, but I don't really know the tone of Small Stones. About the size of the Phase 90, it has one more feature than the MXR : the "color" switch.

I have looked at clips of all of them, the bass (big) balls does have an awesome sound, but I dunno what I would use it for, where as the phasers are much more practical, which is the more usefull?

Also @roflol, my dad is going over to texas on buisness, he said he'd pick me up somthing from Guitar Center if I wanted.

Small stone seems liked more around here. I'd also prefer to have that one.
