Not really an effects question since as far as I know the only ingredients to his tone are technique and a Warwick (Thumb and a Dolphin I believe) and apparently Modulus of late. If it helps, I believe he uses TI rounds.

I just watched the DMB concert on Fuse, he used what looked to be a Ken Smith for the majority, a Quantum fretless on a few songs, and a 4 string fretted i couldnt identify.

The other night I saw him playing a concert and he used a Peavey (IIRC), a Modulus, Tobias, and a Ken Smith. So, it might be a bit hard to nail the sound. Plus, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the big name acts have gear that is modded to their tastes. Don't be surprised if you have the same gear (or so you think) and not the same sound, even taking the "it's all in the fingers" out of the equation.

That said, it's true that some, but not all, of it is in the fingers. A buddy of mine and I played the same basses through the same rigs and besides the fact that he's better than me, the same licks sound different with each player.

I do believe it's his Hill Huntington Elite 4 ... I think the company is currently out of business. If I recall ... he started playing Hill's in '07 or '08.

I heard he used three ring mods on one song on the new album and Fuzz Face modded for bass on almost every song.
