Ghosts are speaking to me through my Little Big Muff.

Seriously, they are.

...either that or the pedal is picking up radio signals. I kind of wonder if the problem is the shielding of the pedal or if the problem is the shielding on the bass itself, and the signals are just audible because of the super high gain.

I wonder if the pedal chassis was grounded if it would shield the circuit inside.

Not a huge issue; it's only faintly audible when the pedal is maxed and I'm not playing. ... just like those ghosts in the TV from Poltergiest.

The circuit and chassis are both grounded. It wouldn't work if they weren't. It's also made entirely of metal so it's completely shielded. But, stray radio signals can still get in there. It could be your bass. It could be your cables. It could be a combo of all three. There are a couple ofthings that can be done to help if you have soldering experience.

My LBM never picked up stray ghosts, so I don't think the pedal is the issue.

I would suggest calling the Ghostbusters, but I'd be pretty mad if those ghosts turned out to be relatives I actually like. Besides, the suggestion is ironic, since it's coming from me.

Ask them for their names, and I'll let you know whether to off them or not.

The circuit might be grounded to the chassis; but I don't think there is a path to ground out of the power line. I thought a metal box would only work to shield a circuit if it was grounded itself.

i would have tried to sort it but i grew out of that tone and setup a whle back

Lol you think that's wierd one guy brought in a Morley. Said it wasn't working right, and the whole time he's laughin tells me to test it out. So I grab it, plug it in, and the sound comes through fine, but I rocked it forward and I started pickin stations. Don't know which one but it was clear as a bell.

What you need to do is form a Faraday Cage http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faraday_cage

This will stop all external radio waves from having an effect on your electronics. It is really simple to do too on a big muff. Just make sure there is a good, solid, and tight connection between the pot and the case (metal touching metal, no plastic washers please), and the case of those pots is grounded. Then, solder a wire to the base of the case (metal), or wrap around a bolt in the base, and then screw down. This wire is then connected to the ground. After that your entire case is grounded, you have a solid Faraday Cage set up.

This is also useful if you have an on-board preamp or EQ system. take all the electronics out and line the cavities with copper sheet (really really thin copper). This grounds radio frequencies, which stops that annoying buzz when the lights go down at a venue.

One of the guitarists in my band has got a Mesa Nomad 55 that used to recieve radiosignals from Germany. Pretty darn far away from our rehearsal-space.

Pedals are often grounded via the signal cables leading to the amplifier. You are correct though, power supplies quite often DO NOT have a ground connection.
