Hey all,

This is electronica. DeadMau5 beat. Scroll ahead and get to the drop C heavy grinding beat.

Yes, I know a vibrating string isn't going to come close. BUT. For my techy comrades out there, tell me what's going on to that signal in its digital processing. What is giving that REALLY gritty grinding pull?

I am imagining it is utilizing a gated effect, something making a blunt waveform that's far apart. Please, be as technical as possible. Also then, what would come close? A bit crusher of sorts? Can anyone replicate this sort of feel?

YouTube - Deadmau5 - You need a ladder (Zelda Theme)

thanks guys.

good ol' octave > distortion or fuzz > filter can approximate it. A gate would help.

another thought - would putting a compressor at the end and cranking it, to really even out the waveform, help?
