Gluing a label back on

Sign in to disble this ad
So in deciding that I'd rather use my SYB-3 for envelope filtering, I pulled the velcro off of my vintage Ibanez AF-9 last night, and the label got stuck on the velcro. Finally got the label off, but it's no longer sticky enough to put back on the pedal.

It's one of those very thin plastic silver labels, and it looks like you can't just use any old glue to put it back on without it looking like crap. I was thinking mucilage would be the ticket here, but I thought I'd run it by you experts and see if you have any better ideas. TIA!

Definitely not mucilage. It dries brittle & the label will fall off. Best bet is to clean as much of the old adhesive off as possible, then use double sided tape. The kind that is paper with an adhesive where the paper is peeled off & leaves just the adhesive behind. Stick to label, trim excess, then remove paper & stick to pedal.

Good luck.

I pulled the label off of my TU-2 (big whoop) due to velcro which is why I started attaching the velcro to the rubber portion of the bottom of my boss pedals. I don't recall if Ibanez/Maxon have the rubber bottom with the label recessed. I'll cut a length of velcro off and then split that length into two thin pieces and then adhere to the rubber.

Okay so that's not really answering your question,...Muscilage would probably do the trick. Perhaps a spray on adhesive or a thin layer of E-6000 or "Goop"

EDIT: bassie's idea is good,...I like it.

Warwick, they do, indeed, and after last night, I will do that from now on with the velcro.

I like both the spray on and the double stick tape ideas. Thanks guys! I'm not so up on my adhesives anymore

Both are good options, though I'd probably favor the carpet tape idea moreso, ('cause spray glue is messy, and sticks to your arm hairs, yuk).

^ yeah, how does that stuff always get on your arm hairs? It really does!!!

Anyway +1 to carpet tape. Apply, trim with scissors, ta-da.
