GOING NUTS TRYING TO FIND A RACKMOUNT FX UNIT THAT MEETS MY NEEDS & PRICE

Sign in to disble this ad
I don't want to spend rediculous amounts of cash for a unit when all I'm looking for is a little reverb, some chorus, and maybe a few extras like a distortion or flange.

I've looked into so many units and not finding what I want.
They're either reviewed to have crappy sound, can't chain a series of effect, or they're priced over a grand with features that don't interest me.

I'm at the cusp of bi-amping and have a little unit I'm going to be using for the bottom end. It's an old digitech unit that has a lot of extras that I'd like to take out and I'd really like to find a stereo unit to replace it. Something that will allow me to assign a chain to one side and a different chain to the other so I can save rack-space.

BUT - I'll settle for a second unit that will be assigned to the high end and keep the old unit for the bottom.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Distortion and compression is going to be your issue. tc electronic g-major is great sounding, but no distortion (and frankly the more expensive g-force's distortion blows) and their compressors suck for bass as well. I use a g-force (effects) + SansAmp PSA-1 (distortion) + a Mindprint tube pre (great compressor). YMMV.

There's also line 6 X-3 pro, it has issues as well, but the sounds are awesome. I had a Rocktron Blue Thunder that I hated too. Really brittle sounding.

Good luck, I just don't think there's a one box solution out there right now except for the Line 6

thanks for the input. Not at all worried about compression. I have a dedicated compressor that I'm satisfied with. Distortion would be a nice extra though.

I'll check out the Line 6 X-3 pro. And I've read about the G-major but haven't heard one. I'll see if I can find any demo's on-line or locally.

If anyone has any other suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.
