Good A/B switch?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, I hope some of you have a good idea here: I have two basses I use with my Epifani 502. This would not be a problem with this 2-input amp, had it not been the fact that both have to go into the padded input (one has an 18v bart pre, the other has a piezo). So, I'm looking for something adding as little to the signal as possible, but just giving my the option to a/b? I've looked at the Tonebone, but really don't need all those EQ facilities - I want the signal path nice and clean and simple. Any ideas? THANKS!

You could make your own.

The Baddy One shoe in the upper right of my board is a simple and clean A/B that I built for that reason.

You can also pick up a used DOD A/B switch off of EvilBay

Thanks! I'd definitely never trust anything built by me, so I'll check out the DOD box.

Just a note, but unless your basses are seriously clipping your input, you don't need to use the padded input. Try the normal one, and adjust your gain, you might be surprised.

I'd be happy to build you one, but it would probably come out to about $30 shipped anyway, so there you're getting close to the price of the DOD.

Electro Harmonix makes one called the Switchblade, and I'm pretty sure Morley makes one too.

Thanks! The unpadded input on the 502 doesn't go too well with the piezo, so I'm going to give a box a try. I'll see what I can find over here of the stuff you suggest (Denmark), and otherwise take you up on your offer, Jimmy!

Or, and maybe I'm being crazy here, when you take one bass off and put it down, then pick up the other bass and hang it over your shoulder you could, this is the crazy part, move the cable from the first bass to the second.

Sarcasm noted.

let me play that one out for you...

POP, Click BZZZZZZZ, annoy yourself and everyone else BZZZZ, POP click, ok ready to go....

Sure, your amp might have a mute switch, but it's just as easy to click a foot switch.
