hey guys, i'm planning on buying a new bass chorus to replace my boss bass chorus, it doesn't cut to me.
i heard a lot of good things about analogman. is it really that good? is it worth the money? i'm looking for a nice warm, lush and wet sound. can anybody suggest something else aside from analogman?
about the envelope filter, i'm choosing between emma and maxon af-9. i'm looking for a nice quack but doesn't lose my low end.
thanks! |

I like my EMMA, but not enough to love it. It is nice, friendly, and with good volume manners. However it is a little subtle, which is a big turn-off for some.
Lots of threads/samples/discussion about these three pedals, The Great Search Feature be the friend of all.

thanks! | If price was not a factor I would get an Analogman; I'm po at the moment so I went with an old DOD stereo bass chorus; best $30 I ever spent towards music gear.
I liked the Emma, it was just too subtle to justify keeping it on a, already tight, board. I would go with the Maxon if I was forced to choose between only those two.
Very happy with my Agent00 Funk and I do not even use it to it's full capability. If I had the space on my board and the cash I would have all 3. |

But never a chorus like effect. Unless to you chorus sounds like fuzz. |

I owned one for about a year, and even on nights when caution, whisky, and knob twiddlin' etiquette were thrown far beyond the wind, I could never possibly call that pedal a chorus.

Check it out here: http://buzzfox.com/zv-woollymam.html
You can even test it online and play with the different sound settings on that page. | A chorus like effect on a mammoth? I can't say I've ever found something like that... mostly just varying levels of fuzz. |

All of us are scratching our heads at the "chorus" comment. Quote: |

It's a little cheaper than the Analogman, but super lush. i think when you want effects to go over the top or at least be a bit more than standard issue, you may be stuck with boutique. If it's an effect you use a lot, then it's worth the cash.
I also have the EMMA. Subtle it is, but there is no low end loss or volume boost. I used to have the original 00Funk. I'm not much of a tweaker and it took a lot to dial in. It was also big as hell, so I decided to go smaller and more subtle. The Emma really does open up with a boost behind it, but then again ... you could just go for one effect with it's own boost. Decisions decisions.

I like a light chorus, that I could leave on all the time if I wanted to...and I just felt the Analogman was a heavier chorus than what I really liked or needed. A lot of players dig that though.
I am digging the TC Electronic SCF now...
As for an Envelope Filter...I like the Boomstick Bottom Feeder...for me it's nice and quacky...it does have a slight volume increase when active, but for what I do...it's not a problem.

I had the TCF for a while but found it to be too subtle. I have an Analogman now and although I never thought I'd spend $250 for a pedal, I have not regretted the huge cash outlay for one minute. It's worth every penny.

I know, it's the one noun that has graced more of my posts during my entire time in these TalkBass forums (all three and a half years of it) than any other, except for my references to myself (usually the word 'I'). Still, I have to suggest it, so that more people will buy it, and my local guitar shops will actually CARRY it, and I will THEN be able to buy it. Then, and only then, will I be able to shut up about it.
Oh, and an EHX Q-Tron. Great envelope filter. It's become an integral part of my sound.

Not sure if it is better suited as a guitar pedal (its the one Cobain used all the time, so I could get some cool Nirvana sounds with my 6-string). Still playing on the bass side, but I can get a lot of range out of it, and seems to be $40 very well spent..

| | | | ...filter: AF-9 blows the Emma a-w-a-y...it's a super box...another VERY solid choice is the M-188 Auto Q...
...chorus: the Clone Clone (preferably w/deep switch) is tremendous, although I also LOVE DLS product (both the Ultra Chorus II & Chorus~Vib) & the Red Witch Empress is impressive, too...don't overlook the Small Clone, though (fantastic for the money) & the M-134 (VERY nice box that doesn't get nearly the love it should)...one last suggestion here, the CF-7, it's been getting VERY nice reviews...
