a used boss odb-3 or big muff would get the job done well

Thanks dude. Yeah I've been looking at the Boss ODB-3 at my local Daddy's but it was in rough condition. Right now I have the Boss DS-1 and I'm getting the Behringer Hellbabe wah pedal in the mail soon.

For OD rather than harder distortion tones, I don't think you can go past the digitech Bad Monkey. Cheap, solid as a rock, sounds fantastic.

you don't want an odb-3...it really should be called a distortion, not an overdrive.

I like several, but the Ibanez PD7 is within budget and sounds good

I don't get how people can possibly need anything more than a Sansamp VT bass... Just save up a few extra money! It has great clean and overdrive sounds, and it sounds frickin awesome.
